How to drive electric scooters and bicycles safely in the city?

In order to use electric scooters and bicycles, it should be our priority to know and comply with the traffic rules and signs well.

According to the traffic law, electric scooters and electric bicycles are vehicles and we can drive on all roads where there is no warning to the contrary, provided that we use the right side of the road.

While driving in traffic, always choosing to ride on the right side line of the road or in the empty area between the right side line and the pavement will provide us with the highest level of protection. The safest area for electric scooters and bicycles is bicycle paths, but in areas where there are no bicycle paths, we create a bicycle path in this safe area that we have specified.

In addition to complying with the traffic rules while driving, we should always drive in a way that is predictable by other drivers in traffic. Following the traffic well, being alert to the dangers on the roads and using it defensively is important for our life safety.

Keeping the daytime running lights of electric scooters and bicycles on, and preferring scooters with LED lights on the steering and body part will increase visibility. Again, having clear front and rear signals will increase our predictability.

We should have an e-scooter and e-bike helmet on every ride, and in addition, eye-catching colors such as green and orange or light colors in the helmet color selection will increase our visibility. You can also choose helmets with LEDs.

You can also wear a phosphorescent safety vest to contribute to your visibility.

If we are going to go next to parked vehicles in traffic, we can list examples such as leaving a door-length distance, if we cannot go, reducing speed, especially not being in the blind spot of long vehicles such as trucks, lorries, buses at turns and intersections.
